Finding delicious and satisfying recipes for a high-protein, low-carb lifestyle can be a challenge. However, tofu is a versatile ingredient that fits perfectly into this theme, and with this super simple soy scallion tofu recipe, you only need 15 minutes to make it!

High-protein, low-carb diets have gained popularity due to their potential benefits, including weight management, improved satiety, and increased muscle mass. By reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing protein consumption, individuals can optimize their macronutrient balance and enhance their overall health.

Tofu is a protein-rich and low-carb ingredient that can form the foundation of numerous mouthwatering recipes. Tofu is made from soybeans and is an excellent source of plant-based protein. It is also rich in essential amino acids, low in saturated fat, and cholesterol-free, making it a heart-healthy food choice. Furthermore, tofu contains minerals like calcium, iron, and magnesium, which contribute to bone health and support various bodily functions. By incorporating tofu into your diet, you can reap the benefits of a high-protein, low-carb lifestyle while enjoying a variety of delicious meals.

The sauce in this recipe is the secret to its delectable taste. A blend of light soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, and water creates a harmonious symphony of flavors. The light soy sauce provides saltiness, while the sesame oil contributes a nutty richness. The hint of sweetness from the sugar balances the umami notes of the oyster sauce, and the dark soy sauce deepens the color and flavor of the dish.

To bring the sauce to its perfect consistency, a cornstarch slurry is employed to thicken the sauce and coat the tofu and scallions beautifully. This step is crucial in achieving the velvety texture that makes this dish so satisfying.

This soy scallion tofu is also well-loved by my kids, with the firm tofu giving a satisfyingly meaty bite soaked in that delicious savoury sauce, and can be quickly cooked when you’re in need of a fast dinner! So, lets get to it!
