This is one of the first dishes I learnt from my mom, and it has firmly become one of my go-to recipes for easy and delicious beef! Tender beef with flavorful sauce and aromatic ginger is perfect for days when you’re craving some quick Chinese-style beef without splurging on a full blown steak or Korean BBQ.
At the heart of the 30-Minute Ginger Beef recipe is the succulent beef flank steak. This cut of beef is renowned for its lean yet flavorful profile, making it the perfect choice for stir-frying. When sliced thinly and marinated properly, the beef becomes incredibly tender and absorbs the rich flavors of the marinade.
Sliced and minced ginger adds a delightful kick with its spicy and slightly sweet notes. Ginger also boasts anti-inflammatory properties and aids in digestion, making it a healthy addition to the dish.
What sets Ginger Beef apart is its harmonious blend of contrasting flavors. The dish boasts a perfect balance of sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy elements through its combination of cornstarch, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, cooking oil, grated ginger, and a touch of salt. The cornstarch helps to thicken the sauce, giving it a luscious texture that clings to the beef and other ingredients. The oyster sauce imparts a savory depth, while dark soy sauce lends a rich, earthy color and umami flavor.
In just 30 minutes, your Ginger Beef is ready to be served alongside a nice hot bowl of steamed rice that can soak up that delicious sauce! This dish may be more suitable for adults than young kids, but you could always try it out to develop their familiarity to ginger (because let’s face it, many of my favorite dishes have ginger in it, not to mention its numerous healing properties). So let’s get to it!
