Crispy Asian Glazed Salmon

by Kelly
Crispy Asian Glazed Salmon, goes perfect with rice!

Crispy Asian Glazed Salmon is a dish that marries the succulence of salmon, crispy skin, and an Asian-inspired glaze! This is a really simple recipe that only takes 15 minutes with almost ZERO PREP WORK, and yet is delicious enough to impress any visitors on short notice!

At the heart of this dish is the star ingredient – salmon with the skin on, providing a delightful contrast in texture when perfectly pan-seared. Before the salmon hits the pan, a touch of seasoning with salt and pepper not only enhances the natural flavors of the fish but also prepares it for the flavor explosion that awaits. Upon searing, the skin crisps up to perfection, creating a delightful crunch that complements the flaky, moist flesh of the salmon. Just be careful not to overcook the salmon!

What sets this Crispy Asian Glazed Salmon apart is the glaze that bathes the salmon in a pool of savory sweetness. A magical blend of minced garlic and ginger forms the aromatic base, followed by the addition of light soy sauce for a subtle saltiness, while oyster sauce adds depth and complexity. The crowning glory is the drizzle of honey, infusing a delightful sweetness that perfectly balances the savory notes.

When plating, I turned the fish skin-side down, so the glaze does not immediately soften the crispy skin. As for garnish, a sprinkle of sesame seeds adds a nutty crunch, elevating the dish’s texture, while vibrant green spring onions provide a fresh, aromatic finish.

As always, it’s best to eat while it is piping hot and freshly served, as the skin is still crispy and the glaze slowly melds into the salmon. This Crispy Asian Glazed Salmon is perfect for busy weeknights, and even kids will enjoy it due to its savory sweetness. So let’s get to it!

  • 400 g salmon 2 slices, with skin on
  • Some salt seasoning
  • Some pepper seasoning
  • sesame seeds garnish
  • spring onions garnish

Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 inch ginger minced
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Dry the salmon with kitchen towels, then season it with salt and pepper.
  • Heat up the pan with oil over medium high heat, pan sear the salmon skin side down for 4 minutes, then flip over to cook for another 4 minutes and set it aside on a plate.
Pro Tip: If you want to make your stainless steel pan nonstick, perform the mercury ball test: If water droplets sizzle and evaporate, the pan isn’t ready yet. However, once the water dances on the surface like balls of mercury, the pan is ready.
  • For the glaze, turn down the heat and cook the minced garlic and ginger until fragrant, this takes about 30 seconds. Add in the light soy sauce, oyster sauce and honey to combine.
  • Pour the sauce over the salmon and serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and green onions.
